Summary :

We are currently looking for a System Administrator IV.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions :

Perform system administration for the operating systems for which they have responsibility.

Administer Windows Network in an enterprise environment along with applicable Linux servers / devices. The Windows Network is 95% virtualized with VMware as the software and Flash and Hybrid Storage Arrays. This includes but is not limited to : DNS, DHCP, AD, and IIS.

Track vulnerabilities and perform patching on Linux systems to be in compliance with requirements set forth by DOI / IA. Establish file storage shares / folders with the proper ACL permissions; new and migrated.

Be responsible for the security and administrative controls of service(s) and / or system(s).

Responsible for Information technology on multiple computers or network devices represented within an onsite system and / or a remote site within the DOI / IA.

Assist and make recommendations to the government for agency specific High Value Asset (HVA) identification, categorization, and prioritization using FIPS 199 and NIST 800-60.

Assist with agency specific risk assessments in order to identify, categorize, prioritize, and manage HVAs.

Assist in keeping the agency specific list of HVAs up-to-date following federal guidelines and / or mandates.

Utilize an Enterprise Comprehensive Patch Management program and follow the cycle that guides the normal application of patches and updates to system(s), along with specific security or other critical updates.

Monitor server application for availability, latency, and gateway queuing and maintain current knowledge of vendor upgrades and patches for both the server and client applications.

  • The Systems Administrator shall apply all patches, upgrades, and enhancements in accordance with OIMT configuration management procedures.

Utilize Enterprise Patch Management technologies to mitigate vulnerabilities found throughout the enterprise to ensure compliance with requirements set forth by DOI / IA.

Set up, configure and document Windows servers and domain controllers for DOI / IA.

Provide support and recommendations for the agency specific software-defined networking (SDN) solution and / or recommend and implement SDN solutions. This includes, but is not limited to, virtual server infrastructure and storage infrastructures.

Provide support and / or implementation for the SDN solutions that encompass functional separation, network virtualization, and automation through programmability.

Perform systems management and system monitoring and upgrade of all applicable DOI / IA systems.

The Contractor shall perform and monitor all server backups.

Restore files and directories in response to user Service Center requests. Backup tapes shall be rotated and stored through OIMT procedures, and the Contractor shall integrate tape backup and restore activities into the disaster recovery process; and ensure data backup and transfer to the OIMT designated COOP facility in accordance with the OIMT COOP and DR process.

Provide technical assistance in enterprise network design and implementation. This includes virtualization of servers, databases and applications.

Provide support and recommendations and / or implementation for the agency specific Zero Trust Network solution for the agency datacenter and other agencies.

Ensure new systems follow applicable OIMT configuration management procedures.

  • Monitor the server application, system and security logs using various tools such as Microsoft Operational Management server, VMWare vSphere, Qwest Change Auditor, and Oracle Enterprise Manager.
  • Design, implement, and support systems in support of the DIO Division of Systems functional responsibility.
  • Provide day to day support of the DOI / IA Active Directory as defined by the Federal Functional / Task Lead. Application upgrades will encompass the migration of the existing legacy systems into the OIMT's preferred platform.
  • Provide technical support pertaining to any development requirements including Capital Planning reporting requirements. Participate in requirements gathering and analysis of various DOI / IA systems as defined by DOI / IA and determine feasibility and value added.
  • Maintain and upgrade applications and IT systems, which includes full security, documentation and reporting features.
  • Provide and update all of the documentation for all applications and IT systems as defined within the DOI Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and also provide any documentation required for the Assessment and Authorization (A&A) process, Change Management, Security and Operations which includes any other documentation required by the Policies, Regulations and Laws that pertain to government information systems development and operations.
  • Develop and implement any new or changed policies, regulations and laws that pertain to the functionality provided within DOI / IA applications and IT systems.
  • Provide technical support to OIMT when required at meetings and presentations to program staff, program management and any other entity deemed by OIMT as a customer, stakeholders, management or partner. This may require travel to the locations of these entities or locations where such activities take place.
  • Create and maintain a source code check-out and check-in process to ensure the government is at no time at a loss of source code work developed.
  • Maintain, upgrade and develop screens and reports, and design database architecture and work processes for all DOI / IA applications and IT systems.
  • May be required to give or assist in giving presentations on applications and IT system at designated meetings throughout the year which will require travel.
  • Support mobile training classroom which requires the maintenance of the mobile training environment and may require travel to the locations where the training is being held.
  • Shall be responsible for implementing and maintaining the OIMT Architecture throughout the enterprise in coordination with OIMT, DIO, DIS, and Program management.
  • Use life cycle development methodologies to analyze, develop, document and implements information systems.
  • Assist in the administration of the DOI / IA enterprise, including user account management, data organization, performance tuning, and overall system operations.
  • Assist OIMT with the program offices and Tribes on application implementation and software licensing.
  • Provide broad based user support for end users including troubleshooting, systems support, data management, collection, integration and training.
  • Provide extensive Microsoft Active Directory support and implement best practice policies for Group Policy Objects, (GPOs) in order to secure user and computer assets in the domain.
  • Assist OIMT in the administration of applications and Active Directory within available test environments on separate systems from production for patch testing, version changes and troubleshooting. Administer Active Directory and application servers to ensure adherence to standards developed and implemented by OIMT.
  • Ensure where technically possible, that all applications will be standardized on the preferred platform provided by DOI / IA requirements and administration of applications and IT systems.
  • Systems support for providing necessary hardware and OS configurations needed for Active Directory and application support in all environments.
  • Qualifications

    Necessary Skills and Knowledge :

  • Have extensive knowledge of architectural consideration for Zero Trust Networking, using best practice for datacenter and agency implementation.
  • Provide extensive Microsoft Active Directory support and implement best practice policies to secure and protect user and computer assets in the domain. This includes, but is not limited to, implementing and / or managing role-based access control, least privileged access, and privileged account management.
  • Minimum Qualifications :

  • Associate's Degree or Certificate from technical training institute.
  • Minimum 4 years of related technical experience in supporting Information Technology environment at the server / data center level.
  • Must be able to obtain a Government Public Trust clearance.
  • Must be able to pass a full criminal record background check, to include a credit check and drug / alcohol screening.
