Summary:

The Maritime Weapons Simulator Operator/Technical Instructor/Writer will provide support to the US Army Transportation School, Sustainment Center of Excellence (SCoE) MITD-Simulator Operator/Technical Instructor Support Services.


Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • The simulator and CROWS are in use during the work week and is scheduled for multiple courses and blocks of instruction. The operator to simulator ratio is 1:1. There is one simulator.
  • Training is an on-going activity while all other courses/classes are in session.
  • Conduct vessel defense and force protection technical training sessions, ensuring thorough instruction for all relevant Army training programs.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the use and employment of the MK19 Grenade Launcher, M2 .50 caliber Machine Gun, M240B Machine Gun, CROWS, and M4/M223 Rifle/Grenade launcher. Provide detailed technical and performance specifications for each weapon.
  • Instructional Delivery: Provide technical instruction on tactics, techniques, and procedures for each weapon when used for vessel defense and force protection on Army Watercraft. This includes delivering proper commands during weapons employment and release.

Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

  • Must be able to physically conduct simulator operator/technical instructor/writer duties and in the stated subject area when required in a classroom, simulator, live training aid, and/or ship environment.
  • Standing for extended periods of time on hard decks or floors exposed to heat and cold conditions is common when conducting live training events.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with ability to analyze situations identify existing or potential problems and recommend solutions.
  • Proficiency in the following Microsoft software programs, which will be furnished as part of the workstation for performance to include software updates as provided: Word 2013; Excel 2013; PowerPoint 2013; and Outlook 2013.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or relevant knowledge acquired through experience/training that is equivalent to education/training, USCG license, and Maritime/Cargo Handling technology degree program.
  • Maritime candidates must have ability to be vetted as meeting the qualifications as a vessel watch officer through the National Maritime Center (NMC) for acceptance as a U.S. Coast Guard approved instructor.
  • Must be able to fully operate the Vessel Defense Simulator, the Common Remote Operated Weapon System (CROWS) and conduct all vessel defense/force protection technical training sessions for 88K10-40, 88L10-40, 881A1/2 and 880A1/2 AIT, PME and functional POI's.
  • Contractor must be familiar with the use and employment of the MK19 Grenade Launcher, M2 .50 caliber Machine Gun, M240B Machine Gun, CROWS, and the M4/M223 Rifle/Grenade launcher to include but not limited to the technical and performance specifications of each weapon.
  • The contractor must be familiar with and be prepared to provide technical instruction in the tactics, techniques and procedures of each weapon when utilized as a means for vessel defense and force protection on board an Army Watercraft; this includes but is not limited to the proper commands during weapons employment and weapons release.
  • -Have completed the Initial Military Training (IMT) and Professional Military Education (PME) courses required for the specific MOS
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
