Apprentice Wastewater Maintenance Technician - Nisqually Tribal Member Only

NATURE OF WORK: This position is responsible for keeping plant machinery and buildings operating with maximum efficiency and minimum downtime

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyze mechanical and operational problems on equipment and make necessary repairs and corrections to maintain maximum productions quality
  • Move, adjust, repair and install new and existing equipment and perform scheduled maintenance on machinery
  • Keep plant, equipment, and work area clean and organized
  • Maintain safety standards as directed and required
  • Operate Wastewater Treatment System as assigned
  • Rebuild mechanical and process equipment as assigned
  • Process paperwork related to work assignments
  • Perform other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of machine operating
  • Skill in the use of general hand tools, heat sensing devices, power tools, electronic meters, pressure testing devices, welding and air tools
  • Ability to withstand extreme heat and cool
  • Ability to frequently lift, stand, bend, and stoop
  • Ability to descent and climb a maximum of 30 rungs to access system pump stations
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to utilize a Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus requiring adequate respiratory function
  • Ability to detect and differentiate

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable under the Tribe's insurance
  • Must be able to work irregular hours including evenings and weekends as required
