GENERAL SUMMARY
This position will learn the trade of carpentry on residential and commercial construction projects while providing assistance to the Carpenters and Carpenter Supervisor. This position reports to the Carpenter Supervisor.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary responsibilities are the basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform. - Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean working environment.
- Study specifications in blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials as required.
- Measure and mark cutting lines on materials using different measuring instruments and marking devices such as a chalk line.
- Cut and shape materials to specified measurements using manual and power saws/machines.
- Install structures or fixtures such as windows, frames, flooring, trim and hardware using manual and power tools.
- Observe and actively participate in training sessions.
- Use various tools and materials such as cutting devices, glues, adhesives, and measuring devices safely.
- Clean and maintain equipment, tools, and materials as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
One-year experience in construction/carpentry field.
Experience working with Tribes and Native Communities.
OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable under the Nisqually Indian Tribe's vehicle insurance policy within one year of employment.
- Must be willing and able to work on all Nisqually Indian Tribe owned properties, which may include travel.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
