GENERAL SUMMARY

This position is responsible for providing oversight, direction, and management of the Traditional Healing Program housed under The Nisqually Tribal Health and Wellness Center. This position manages and supervises the work of program staff and contractors and is responsible for supporting and coordinating the emotional, spiritual, and physical health care for the Nisqually community utilizing a compassionate and full circle approach to health & wellness.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES


Primary responsibilities are the basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform. •Directly supervise Traditional Healing staff including selection, hiring, performance evaluations and corrective actions.
•Attend trainings virtually or in person to remain up to date on all modalities of traditional and holistic healing
•Provide oversight and management of Traditional Healing program operations including program planning, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of services.
•Recruit, maintain, and supervise all contracted, temporary, and per-project contractors for the Traditional Healing program services including traditional healers, spiritual facilitators, stress management, chiropractic, acupuncture, traditional plant practitioner and other holistic health contractors as applicable.
•Oversee the Traditional Healing Medicine Garden alongside the TM program coordinator.
•Collaborate with other health and Tribal programs to enhance accessibility of services.
•Recruit, oversee and facilitate an advisory board composed of Nisqually community members with interests and support for the wellbeing and direction of The Traditional Healing Program.
•Assist in the development and update of all applicable policies and procedures for the Traditional Healing Program.
•Provide fiscal planning, development, review, monitoring, management, and compliance of the Traditional Healing program annual budgets and grants as assigned.
•Manage, oversee and train program staff in fiscal operations such as processing of purchase orders, requisitions, and invoices.
•Coordinate staff development, team building and necessary trainings.
•Manage work schedules and organize specialty contractors and events.
•Represent the facility at governing boards and other programmatic data as required.
•Collaborate with the Health Department's Medical, Dental and Pharmacy programs to provide integrated and full circle health care services to all patients of The Nisqually Tribal Health and Wellness Center.
•Perform other duties as assigned.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience


•Bachelor's degree in herbal or natural medicine, Native American studies, health administration or a closely related field.
•Four years of recent related work experience in a related healthcare field.
•Two years of supervisory experience.
•OR a comparable combination of approved education and/or recent related work experience.
•Experience with alternative healing modalities and/or traditional medicines.
•Experience in medical office, alternative care or related healing program operation, budget management, policy and procedure development and program development.
•Experience leading, managing, and supervising staff.
•Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable under the Tribe's insurance policy.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
•In depth knowledge of Traditional medicines and indigenous values.
•Understanding and connection to tribal communities with development of relations to promote community engagement and growth.
•Knowledge and passion of building, maintaining, and supporting community garden work.
•Ability to attend evenings and weekends events and seasonal activities.
•Strong leadership skills and ability to direct a program based on the needs of the community served.
SUPERVISION
•This position will report to the Director of Operations.
•This position will require management of contracted service providers and traditional healing personnel.

•Working with basic Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
•Planning, organizing, delegating, and supervising.
•Verbal and written communication.
•Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, the community, staff, and external agencies.
Ability to:
•Research and prepare reports or other correspondence as required.
•Maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
•Interact, respect, and support tribal community events, customs, and cultural activities
•Provide excellent customer service and exercise tact and good judgement in all aspects of program.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS


The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the primary responsibilities of this job.
•Ability to also work at a computer and in a sitting position for extended periods.
•Kneel, crouch, or crawl and good ability to use arms and hands.
•Occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 lbs.
•Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions
