GENERAL SUMMARY The Victims of Crime Program Coordinator position is responsible for grant implementation and reporting, coordinating program services, project planning and implementation, establishing strategic partnerships and measuring program effectiveness. Duties also include developing processes for client in-take, needs assessment, provision of direct services and referrals; conducting community outreach to market the program and promoting community awareness and working with internal and external partners to expand the range of services for clients and their families.
This position ensures the confidentiality, security, and accuracy of records, and promotes positive employee, customer, and community relations. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required and outstanding customer service to fellow employees, customers, vendors, etc. is expected. Regular attendance is required, and on occasion, later hours or weekend time may be required with project deadlines and a neat well-groomed professional appearance is essential at all times.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary responsibilities are the basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform. - Coordinate implementation of grant-funded projects and services in accordance with grant agreement goals, objectives, timelines, and budget. Prepare and submit grant reports.
- Follow program and organizational policies and procedures and assist Manager in updating program policies and procedures.
- Respond to emergencies involving victims. Identify client's immediate safety and stabilization needs. Develop a safety plan, provide immediate support services, help obtain emergency protection orders, emergency shelter, transportation, basic needs, etc.
- Update the program's client services procedures and train staff to implement new processes including safety planning; in-take, needs assessment; client goal setting, treatment/service planning, direct services, service referrals, client advocacy, transport and/or attend client appointments as requested, and check-in on client progress.
- Utilize a program database and ensure staff use database to enter client data, services provided, referrals made and to track client progress, generate program status reports and to measure program performance.
- Conduct outreach to increase awareness of services available. Plan and implement community events, family-centered activities focused on violence prevention and help build and promote healthy families and healthy relationships.
- Develop and implement services for children that have experienced or witnessed abuse, violence, neglect, domestic violence, trauma, emergencies and/or crisis situations in partnership with internal and external programs.
- Coordinate program services and develop partnerships to help clients access emergency and/or permanent housing.
- Coordinate services that help clients work towards reaching personal goals that help them to rebuild after leaving domestic violence and/or addressing needs related to trauma, victimization, emergencies/crisis situations.
- Collaborate with tribal programs to hold cultural classes, activities, talking circles and other culturally relevant assistance and traditional healing for victims and to promote traditional values for raising healthy families and breaking cycles of generational and historical trauma.
- Increase awareness, make presentations, and provide training amongst staff in various departments about how to recognize signs of domestic violence, abuse, neglect, and methods to refer clients to services.
- Provide referral assistance for crisis counseling and intervention as needed. Coordinate with Nisqually's designated contact person to contact WA State's Tribal DCR as needed.
- Respond to emergency situations according to a set protocol when called upon by Law Enforcement to connect with victims. Serve as liaison between Tribal, county, state, and local law enforcement agencies for clients in Nisqually's service area and provided contact information for referrals.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in human services or related field and/or at least two (2) years' experience as an Advocate or Coordinator for a Victims of Crime program.
- Two (2) or more years of experience in domestic violence or a related field.
- Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's license and maintain a driving record that meets the minimum requirements established by Nisqually Indian Tribes vehicle insurance provider.
- Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
- The ability to work with vulnerable populations including adults and children.
- Must pass a State and National (FBI) criminal history background check prior to employment.
SUPERVISION
This position supervises, evaluates, and coaches the Victims of Crime Advocate.
