What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Assurance Chemist position at Nissan Chemical America Corporation?
Position Summary: NCA Chemist conducts research, analysis and experimentation on substances, for such purposes as product and process development and application, quantitative and qualitative analysis, and improvement of analytical methodologies.
Authorities:
· Spending authorized to $2,000 per purchase of laboratory supplies and equipment with Supervisor approval required.
· Approve raw materials for use and issue certificates of analysis for final product
· Perform calibrations and maintenance of laboratory equipment
· Suggest revisions to laboratory test methods according to document control procedures.
· Submit requests for corrective action
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Maintains awareness of Safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner.
· Maintains awareness of Quality policy and objectives. Understand how their responsibilities can impact the effectiveness of the quality management system. (ISO9001)
· Maintains awareness of the Environmental policy and objectives. Understand how their responsibilities impact the effectiveness of the environmental management system. (ISO14001)
· Follow all safety directives and protocol and stay current on CBT and monthly safety meetings
· Perform lab testing of products, raw materials, utility streams, waste, etc. in a timely and accurate manner
· Maintain lab equipment – including cleaning & mechanical maintenance and calibration of laboratory instruments to ensure accurate data
· Keep laboratory clean, well organized and clutter free
· Accurately identify, label, segregate, package and store plant wastes, including hazardous wastes, according to environmental plans and procedures.
· Accurately record lab data in permanent files and maintain PO files
· Alert supervision immediately to any known or potential quality problems
· Support operations during times of plant changes or upset and laboratory issues – working and being on-call nights, weekends and holidays as needed
· Work rotating shifts and overtime as required
· Know and understand all product test procedures and their principle of operation
· Support the sales team through the analysis of customer supplied samples
· Maintain accurate and organized written files and data files on the server
· Keep inventory of consumables and necessary materials and supplies in stock
· Continually improve job knowledge and skill through education and training
· Maintain integrity of cooling tower, boiler, and utility water through regular analytical testing and adjustment of treatment chemicals. Effectively communicate with associated vendors and contracts regarding status of equipment. Maintain adequate inventory of testing materials and chemicals.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (B.S in Chemistry or Related Science) from four-year college or university
Spreadsheet and word processing skills needed.
