BDC Representative – Job Overview
A BDC (Business Development Center) Representative plays a crucial role in a dealership’s sales and customer service process. They are responsible for managing inbound and outbound communications with potential and existing customers, setting appointments, and maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction. BDC Reps act as the bridge between online/phone inquiries and the in-store sales team.
Key Duties & Responsibilities: Customer Communication
- Respond promptly and professionally to all inbound phone calls, emails, and online leads.
- Make outbound calls to follow up with customers who inquired online or by phone.
- Confirm sales and service appointments and follow up on no-shows.
- Provide information on vehicle inventory, pricing, incentives, and dealership services.
Appointment Management
- Schedule and confirm appointments for sales and service departments.
- Track appointment status and update CRM with accurate notes.
- Maximize show rates by building rapport and emphasizing the value of visiting the dealership.
Lead Management & Follow-Up
- Log and track all leads in the CRM system.
- Conduct timely and consistent follow-ups via phone, email, and text.
- Maintain a lead response time within dealership standards (usually under 15 minutes).
Customer Service & Sales Support
- Answer product-related questions and provide solutions that align with customer needs.
- Maintain a strong understanding of current promotions, inventory, and financing options.
- Support the sales team by ensuring customers are well-informed before their visit.
Reporting & Administration
- Keep detailed records of customer interactions, leads, and outcomes.
- Prepare daily/weekly reports on appointments set, shown, and sold.
- Meet or exceed daily/weekly/monthly performance goals.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Friendly, upbeat, and customer-focused attitude.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Comfortable using CRM software and multitasking between systems.
- Prior call center, customer service, or dealership experience is a plus.

Pay: From $60,000.00 per year
