What are the responsibilities and job description for the Transactional Attorney position at Nissenbaum Law Group, LLC?
The Nissenbaum Law Group is seeking motivated attorneys with a minimum of two years’ experience in commercial transactional representation. The preferred candidate would have experience in mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, employment law, commercial real estate, commercial transactions and intellectual property.
ABOUT THE FIRM: The Nissenbaum Law Group is a boutique, full service commercial law firm. The firm’s business clients range from individuals and small start-ups to multi-national companies. The position is based out of the firm’s headquarters in Union, NJ though the firm also maintains offices in Manhattan, Philadelphia and Dallas.
HYBRID WORK ARRANGEMENTS: The firm offers work-from-home, hybrid and in-person arrangements to suit the needs of our attorneys. We are very flexible on that score.
NOTE: While admittedly much of current legal practice has become virtual, our attorneys must also be able to attend, for example, in-person meetings and otherwise perform the work of an in-person commercial legal practice as defined by the needs of our clients and law firm
TRAINING AND MENTORING: Entering associates will typically be provided with a 2-4 week intensive training program overseen by our managing attorney.
The firm is committed to mentoring new associates in a collaborative and multi-layered manner respecting relatively all significant aspects of commercial practice. The purpose is to allow our new attorneys wide latitude to take on early responsibilities that will be challenging for them. This includes items such as:
- Drafting, reviewing, advising clients with respect to, and negotiating, agreements in a wide array of fields, including intellectual property, entertainment and sports, construction, health and digital;
- preparing corporate governance documents for both profit and nonprofit entities;
- filing trademarks and copyrights and enforcing those rights; and
- conducting complex legal research and analysis into nuanced areas of law as well as industry regulations and practices in order to advise our clients on transactional matters.
Having said that, our firm is full service with a practice that involves not just transactional matters, but also (a) complex commercial litigation and (b) attorney ethics defense and representation in regard to trust account audits. While the position currently involves transactional work, the firm reserves the right to assign the attorney where our clients needs arise. This can involve having attorneys who are focused in transactional work, also work in the other areas of the firm’s practice. We see this as a benefit of the job, as it is helpful for our commercial attorneys to have a wide-range of training and experience in all aspects of business law. Having said that, the firm is aware that in the past, our transactional attorneys have expressed a preference not to make actual court appearances. The firm will endeavor to take that into account if it can in a given instance, consistent with its clients’ needs.)
In short, this is a job for people who want to accelerate their development as commercial transactional attorneys.
