Job Overview
This position is responsible for supporting Maintenance, U&F, Engineering or PE projects and supporting production efforts by coordinating the special project activities related to maintaining, upgrading, building, or overhauling all NAMI’s production or support equipment. The position will be responsible for machining, assembling, testing, and overhauling various industrial production equipment components and systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability. The position requires a strong technical background, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
Duties
- Maintains Projects by maintaining projects as directed by the departmental manager; by determining short-term priorities and discusses support requirements for maintenance tasks and projects; by identifying and documenting preventive and predictive maintenance tasks; by directing special project workers or sub-contractors in maintaining and repairing process equipment, related machinery and instruments; by maintaining specifications, documents, drawings, and blueprints; by reviewing completed work for conformance to blueprints, specifications and standards; and by recommending measures to improve maintenance methods, equipment performance, and quality of product. This position is assigned to the project team to develop improvements for mechanical, electrical, and safety as directed by the project teams direct report to the Assistant Manager of Maintenance. Machining and fabrication are a key part of project completion by operating various machines, including lathes, mills, and grinders, to fabricate and modify parts according to specifications. Also, production equipment overhaul including disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble equipment components and systems, such as hydraulic cylinders and systems, presses, and other equipment.
- Ensures Efficient Operations by transferring advanced skills and expertise to the special project workers through demonstration and observation; by assisting workers in maintenance and repair of process equipment, related machinery and instruments; and by suggesting changes in working conditions and the use of equipment to increase efficiency of work crew.
- Manages Time and Resources by using tools provided by the Company (machine shop, tooling, and standard tools) in order to maximize productivity and to accomplish tasks on time. Keeps Management Informed by participating in meetings; and by reporting problems to Management verbally or in writing in order to avoid confusion and further problems. Performs General Administrative Duties by writing and distributing reports and other correspondence; by distributing mail and faxes when necessary; by accurately filing and maintaining documents; by making copies; and by performing other administrative duties as needed.
- Upholds Standards of Quality, Cost, and Safety by following the Company's standards and guidelines for maintaining quality, cost, and safety; by taking initiative to make these points top priority at the Company; by immediately reporting any conditions that do not uphold the standards of quality, cost, and safety to the Supervisor or Management; and by making suggestions for necessary improvements to uphold these standards as necessary.
- Contributes to the Team Effort by consistently achieving individual goals in order to contribute to the achievement of departmental and Company goals; by being flexible in work assignments; by covering for other Staff as needed; by accomplishing related tasks when requested; by being open to feedback from peers, Supervisors, and Management; and by using the feedback to improve performance.
- Maintains Professional and Technical Knowledge by attaining job-related certification as necessary; by seeking out job-related training in order to improve personal skills, as well as efficiency and knowledge in the workplace; and by applying that knowledge to the job. Must have strong mechanical or machining background and the capability to implement improvements as directed. Knows fully how to operate and maintain lathe and milling machines by understanding machining sequences, feed rates, tools, and other settings. Fully understands methods and materials for fabrication via plasma cutting, TIG welding, MIG welding, grinding and cutting. Possess knowledge of fitting and assembling components for machine overhauls or construction of new machinery via drawings, sketches, or strong basic machinery understanding.
