Nitek International is looking for an experienced Surface Mount Assembly Technician to become part of our electronic products manufacturing team. The ideal candidate should understand PCA (printed circuit assembly) manufacturing, including surface mount equipment and processes, thru-hole assembly, hand soldering, and product testing. This is an immediate opening for a full-time position.

ABOUT THE ROLE
Nitek prides itself on manufacturing data transmission devices that are best in class in terms of reliability and performance. The Surface Mount Assembly Technician is a critical part of the manufacturing team responsible for assembling and testing our products to ensure they meet Nitek’s standards and specifications. The Surface Mount Assembly Technician will also work with the engineering team and other production staff to provide technical support, testing, diagnosing and troubleshooting for multiple product lines. Nitek fully updated its production equipment in 2021 and 2022 and needs Technicians that are comfortable working independently and with minimal direction to build prototypes, legacy assemblies, and full production builds. This position will require no travel.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Program, setup, run and troubleshoot in-line surface mount assembly equipment
- Assemble printed circuit board assemblies including SMT, hand assembly, soldering, mechanical assembly, and testing
- Perform product testing, calibration, and advanced adjustments using testing instruments
- Help develop assembly and test procedures to promote production of quality products
- Conduct product testing and performance testing and record the results
- Perform final checks and adjustments for any defects to ensure high quality products
- Monitor equipment efficiency and perform required preventive maintenance
- Work closely with Engineering to identify and implement production improvements
- Work closely with Engineering to help write and maintain production, assembly, and test procedures
- Work closely with Engineering to identify and address production, assembly, and test issues
- Maintain a clean and ESD safe environment
- Ensure all logbooks are maintained according to standard operating procedures
- Other responsibilities as assigned by management
QUALIFICATIONS
- GED or High school diploma required, Associates Degree in Electronics preferred
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in electronics manufacturing environment, QA, assembly, and or testing
- Preferred minimum 2 years running a surface mount production line
- Critical thinker with excellent analytical skills and strong problem-solving ability who can manage multiple projects simultaneously and thrives in a fast moving, hands-on environment
- Team player with a strong sense of urgency to meet goals on schedule
- Capable of working independently and prioritizing time on the right projects to maximize results
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including writing, speaking and active listening
- High energy level, positive, and enthusiastic
- Ability to lift 20lbs.
- Basic computer proficiency
