NEEDED: Medical Laboratory Technician
LOCATION: Highway 72, West, Three Rivers, Texas 78071
SCHEDULE: Monday – Thursday, 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM, excluding Federal Holidays, 10 hours per day, 1880 hours per year.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- U.S. Citizen
- Must have completed a formal Laboratory Technician Training Program (or similar) with at least 6 months of course credit and satisfactory completed internship.
- Must have at least 1 year of Laboratory Technician experience.
- Shall have valid certification to practice in the state of Texas as a Medical Assistant, Laboratory Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician or Phlebotomist.
- Must be Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified, in accordance with the American Heart Association
- Must be able to pass a drug screening and a background clearance.
DUTIES: The Medical Laboratory Technician shall provide the following services, which include, but are not limited to the items listed below:
- Perform basic blood draws for staff and inmates, spin down blood, prepare and package specimens for shipping, and deliver subject shipping containers to the FCI/FPC front gate for shipment
- Draw blood open, semi-open and locked units
- Keep the work area neatly organized
- Maintain the needle/syringe inventory
- Properly document lab request logs
- Complete related paperwork and filing
- Conduct routine equipment checks
- Collect data relating to laboratory efforts (usage, types of labs studies, prompt receipt of orders and timely return of results by our contract labs, etc.)
- Work effectively with both staff and inmates in the performance of services
