What are the responsibilities and job description for the Structural Engineer position at Nitsch Engineering?
Nitsch Engineering is looking for a Structural Engineer to join our team in one of our three Massachusetts office in Boston, Lawrence, or Worcester!
Responsibilities
- Utilize structural and CAD software during preliminary and final design
- Complete independent structural calculations and studies
- Prepare preliminary and final plans, specifications, and estimates
- Provide construction administration services
- Perform bridge inspections
- Perform structural analysis and prepare load rating calculations and reports for highway and rail bridges
- Prepare design documents of bridge structures, retaining walls, culverts, utilities, concrete slabs and walls, traffic equipment, and any other structural related items
- Assist with project management tasks, as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with a Structural focus
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in Massachusetts or ability to obtain MA PE within one year if licensed in another state
- 5-10 years of relevant design experience
- Strong knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D; familiarity with STAAD, MDX, AASHTOWare Bridge Rating, and Bentley’s LEAP Bridge Enterprise preferred
- Familiarity with AASHTO, building design codes, and MassDOT bridge design policies and guidelines
