The Senior Research Scientist, NMR is responsible for leading and managing NMR analytical tasks for multiple projects in parallel. Tasks include research and development, method development and validations, and release testing focused on oligonucleotides.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute development, validation, and transfer of NMR-analytical methods.
- Track, trend, and manage the NMR release testing in accordance with project timelines.
- Author, revise, and approve laboratory standard operating procedures, protocols, and methods.
- Provide training on NMR laboratory techniques and procedures.
- Provide NMR subject matter expertise, and analytical support to internal stakeholders including Process Development, Quality Control, and Manufacturing.
- Represent Avecia as a technical leader with external customers. Provide technical leadership in across the organization.
- Advance capability within the organization in specialized analytical instrumentation and techniques such as high-resolution mass spectrometry and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry.
- Lead and contribute to department objectives for continuous improvement and technical excellence.
- Ensure laboratory compliance to established procedures. Perform gap analyses and implement actions to maintain currency to regulatory standards.
- Supervise, develop, and manage staff. Contribute to a positive work atmosphere and tactfully resolve conflict.
- Degree in Chemistry or a related field; PhD with 4 years or MS with 7 years or BA/BS with 9 years of related work experience with NMR spectroscopy.
- Extensive experience with method development, analysis, and interpretation of 1D and 2D proton, carbon, and phosphorus NMR.
- Analytical chemistry fundamental skills and knowledge of multiple techniques including NMR, MS, U/HPLC, and ICP-MS.
- Advanced Word, Excel, and PowerPoint experience. Ability to perform statistical data analysis and clearly communicate analytical data and results.
- Experience in a cGMP environment and application of regulatory guidance to maintain cGMP compliance.
