Please Note : This is a 3rd shift, Sunday-Thursday 10 : 30pm-7am position. In addition to the stated hourly rate, a 12% shift differential is also included.
JOB SUMMARY :
Under direct supervision, perform repetitive routine to moderately complex production operator duties including material handling, equipment operation, process monitoring and control, testing and various other support activities within the Finishing area. Will perform specific production activities in the Finishing area, including FRP Outerwrap, Trimming, Seal Carrier and Leak Test operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and / or RESPONSIBILITIES :
FRP Outerwrap Operation :
1. Confirms product does not exceed outer diameter dimensional requirements.
2. Maintains consistency in the cosmetic appearance of the product.
Trim Operation :
1. Verifies trim measurements using calibrated tools such as ring gauges, trim gauges, etc.
2. Examines products for defects such as scratches, imperfections, general damage from core tube to element exterior.
Seal Carrier Attachment Operation :
1. Places seal carriers at both ends of the element using calibrated tools such as ring gauges, core tube extension gauges, etc.
2. Applies correct product label and serial number to appropriate element and ensures proper product color coded strips.
Leak Test Operation :
1. Performs product inspections using air lines, leaf adhesives and visual spot-checking for bubbles on product; makes necessary repairs.
2. Communicates with Lead and / or Supervisor if defects were encountered as well as an increase in defects during shift.
APPLIES TO ALL :
1. Loads and unload elements to manufacturing equipment and back to the element rack within / between FRP Outerwrap, Trimming, Seal Carrier and Leak Test operations.
2. Ensures and verifies correct serial number present on all elements and recorded on appropriate documentation.
3. Assists in training of new employees on standard operating manufacturing processes.
4. Maintains a level of productivity set by production management including rework.
5. Abides by all safety and quality standards and policies.
6. Maintains workstation resulting in a clean / safe environment using 5S lean manufacturing standards.
7. Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE :
1. Six (6) months directly related experience in two (2) of the following areas : FRP Outerwrap, Trimming, Seal Carrier and / or Leak Test Operations, high school diploma or GED; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and / or ABILITIES :
1. Understand and follow standard operating manufacturing processes and health, environmental and safety procedures.
2. Work independently and in a team fostering a cooperative spirit within a large and / or small team while maintaining flexibility to changing priorities.
3. Read, comprehend and follow moderately complex oral and written instructions in English.
4. Work in a detailed-oriented atmosphere with accurate record-keeping and outstanding follow through for production requirements. Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
5. Ability to recognize numbers and millimeters symbols and perform basic mathematical calculations like adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing and ratios. Ability to use a measuring tape.
6. Basic understanding of computers and a comfort working around computer-controlled machines.
7. Ability to set up, conduct preventative maintenance and operate machines.
8. Ability to use equipment such as diameter gauge, go / no go gauge, utility knifes, measuring tape, etc.

8. Ability to reach occasionally up to 3 hours a day.
9. Ability to grasp objects with a force up to 50 pounds.
10. Gross hand manipulation of light-moderate strength is required to grab fiber bundles.
11. Fine hand manipulation of light-moderate strength is required to operate buttons on machine or computers.
12. Must be able to see / focus for close eye work (small figures) while conducting bubble testing, discriminate colors, and perceive depths.
13. Must be able to speak / hear to fulfill verbal communications and respond to machine alarms / buzzers.
14. Subject to periodic exposures to varying temperatures, occasional exposure to noise levels above 85 decibels, gas / fumes / mists, and chemicals or hazardous materials while using personal protective equipment when required.
15. Must wear safety shoes in required areas.
16. Must be able to work extended hours per the demands of the business.
17. Participation in daily exercise activities is expected.
