What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Construction Manager position at Nix Industrial?
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Field Construction Manager to oversee and coordinate structural steel erection projects from inception to completion. This role requires a strategic thinker who can build and maintain strong relationships with general contractors, construction managers, owners, and other key stakeholders while ensuring projects are executed safely, efficiently, and within budget.
Our Ideal Candidate Will:
Manage Customer Relationships:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with general contractors, construction managers, owners, and other stakeholders.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customer inquiries, project updates, and issue resolution.
- Ensure customer satisfaction by addressing concerns and providing timely updates on project progress.
Coordinate Projects:
- Work closely with internal project management teams to align material deliveries and steel erection activities with project timelines, specifications, and budgets.
- Coordinate with general contractors, construction managers, and owners to ensure seamless project execution.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks to keep projects on track.
Grow & Develop Business:
- Identify new business opportunities within the structural steel industry.
- Establish and nurture relationships with general contractors, construction managers, owners, steel erectors, and other subcontractors.
- Promote company capabilities and services to expand market presence.
Manage Project Scope:
- Ensure steel deliveries, erection projects, and deliverables align with the agreed scope of work, project timelines, and budget constraints.
- Provide regular project status reports and updates to all stakeholders.
- Monitor project scope to prevent scope creep and ensure adherence to contractual obligations.
Oversee Job Site:
- Spend a significant amount of time on-site overseeing steel erection activities.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols, quality standards, and project specifications.
- Proactively address any issues that may arise during the erection process.
Lead Teams:
- Supervise and manage subcontractors working on the steel erection site.
- Ensure all work is performed according to contract requirements and safety regulations.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and high-quality work.
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in structural steel erection, construction management, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of steel erection processes, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools.
- Willingness to travel and be on-site as required.
