Program : Water Resource Management - Division of Water Supply and Geoscience - Bureau of Water Resources and Geoscience
Program Description : The Water Resource Management program establishes water quality and drinking water standards, monitors the waters of the State to ensure surface and groundwater standards are met, helps ensure delivery of water that meets drinking water standards, regulates discharges of wastewater and storm water to surface and ground water, regulates and manages the diversion of water from surface and groundwaters to ensure protection of the resource, and provides low cost financial assistance for finance capital improvements to water infrastructure.
Project Description : A media technician is needed to organize, tabulate, and scan various documents, maps, field notebooks, photographs and slides, as well as rock and core samples that have been acquired by the Geological & Water Survey since its inception in 1835 to the present. Much of this material is at-risk of deterioration and must be digitized prior to sending the physical materials for archival storage.
Specific to the Position : Knowledge of Microsoft software, scanning, and database creation / entering is essential.
Preferred Area of Study : Majors relating to environmental science, physical science, and biological science, as well as environmental policy.
License : Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
Residency : All persons newly hired on or after September 1, 2011 have one year from the date of employment to establish, and then maintain principal residence in the State of New Jersey subject to the provisions of N.J.S.A. 52 : 14-7 (L.2011, Chapter 70), also known as the "New Jersey First Act".
