Program: Water Resource Management – Division of Water Supply and Geoscience – Bureau of Water System Engineering
Program Description: The Water Resource Management program establishes water quality and drinking water standards, monitors the waters of the State to ensure surface and ground water standards are met, helps ensure delivery of water that meets drinking water standards, regulates discharges of wastewater and storm water to surface and ground water, regulates and manages the diversion of water from surface and groundwaters to ensure protection of the resource, and provides low cost financial assistance for finance capital improvements to water infrastructure.
Project Description: The Environmental Services Intern will assist with programs that provide technical assistance for water systems to comply with the federal and State Safe Drinking Water Act rules, which include providing assistance for training and rule implementation that will ensure these systems are addressing existing violations and infrastructure issues. The duties will primarily focus on the Lead and Copper Rule, lead service line replacement, and well as treatment for PFAS.
Specific to the Position: Microsoft Suite, Google/Bing Maps, and GIS
Preferred Area of Study: Majors relating to environmental science, physical science, and biological science, as well as environmental policy.
License: Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
Residency: All persons newly hired on or after September 1, 2011 have one year from the date of employment to establish, and then maintain principal residence in the State of New Jersey subject to the provisions of N.J.S.A. 52:14-7 (L.2011, Chapter 70), also known as the "New Jersey First Act".
Authorization to Work: Selected candidates must be authorized to work in the United States per the Department of Homeland Security, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations. Note: The State of New Jersey does not provide sponsorship for citizenship to the United States.
