Program : Water Resource Management – Division of Water Supply and Geoscience – Bureau of Safe Drinking Water
Program Description : The Water Resource Management program establishes water quality and drinking water standards, monitors the waters of the State to ensure surface and ground water standards are met, helps ensure delivery of water that meets drinking water standards, regulates discharges of wastewater and storm water to surface and ground water, regulates and manages the diversion of water from surface and ground waters to ensure protection of the resource, and provides low cost financial assistance for finance capital improvements to water infrastructure.
Project Description : The Environmental Services Intern will support the critical need of approximately 3,500 public water systems in maintaining compliance with the Federal and State Safe Drinking Water Act. The candidate will assist in various aspects of drinking water compliance to include, but not limited to, data management of drinking water compliance forms, violation determinations, inventory updates, assistance with returning to compliance, and site visits.
Specific to the Position : Microsoft Suite, specifically Excel to transfer, evaluate, graph, and trend data to determine performance limiting factors. Background in Environmental Sciences Data Management experience. Environmental Health courses preferred.
Preferred Area of Study : Majors relating to environmental science, physical science, and biological science, as well as environmental policy.
License : Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
Residency : All persons newly hired on or after September 1, 2011 have one year from the date of employment to establish, and then maintain principal residence in the State of New Jersey subject to the provisions of N.J.S.A. 52 : 14-7 (L.2011, Chapter 70), also known as the "New Jersey First Act".
