Summary

Under the direction of the Facility Supervisor, a Cleaner is responsible for the cleaning and maintaining of all NJ TRANSIT facilities, and / or properties. Report any incidents occurred as directed by the supervisor.

Roles and Responsibilities :

• Must be able to perform cleaning duties as follows :
• Clean and wash the interior of facilities.
• Maintain lavatories, and replace towels, and other lavatory supplies.
• Perform janitorial duties.
• Perform policing of the responsible area during the tour of duty.
• Perform other cleaning duties as directed.
• Perform landscaping and snow removal duties needed.
• Report any malfunctions that may be found while performing duties.
• Use sweepers / scrubbers and related cleaning equipment.
• Must have a working knowledge of building maintenance chemicals and procedures and be capable of using same safely
• Must be able to understand written and oral directions
• Must be able to work in harmony with fellow employees
• Must be capable of lifting 40 lbs. of debris
• Must be able to work with minimum supervision
• Must be able to move furniture and equipment properly to perform cleaning duties
• Must be available for emergencies
