Roles and Responsibilities:
- Manages the daily hardware and software maintenance efforts of the Crew Caller Management System (CCMS), Crew & Equipment Optimizer (CEO), Crew Assignments (CRAA), System Crew Assignment Tracking and various other Crew & Equipment systems.
- Manages the installation of new software as releases are made available, and ensures proper testing and functionality prior to field implementation. Tracks anomalies as they are discovered and/or reported, and facilitates corrective action with the various vendors/developers and users.
- Provides guidance for end-users of these systems. Develops and updates training syllabus and other guidance materials to keep systems current and users proficient in system use.
- Researches and analyzes existing manual processes, and develops implementation plans for automation through development and technological implementation.
- Monitors, controls, analyzes and troubleshoots the Web activity of 1400 T&E personnel, and resolves operational and payroll issues with the Finance department and system developers/programmers.
- Manages system archives, backup files and processes. Ensures that systems provide data used for management reporting purposes and for the maintenance of FRA-mandated reports and activities regarding hours of service reportability.
- Manages and coordinates various seasonal activities (i.e., UTU and BLE vacation allotments, holidays) for proper implementation into the appropriate systems.
- Reviews and develops procedures for proper systems utilization.
Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
- Baccalaureate Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or related field, or equivalent and five (5) years of progressive experience in railroad operations, to include all major facets of transportation and supervisory experience.
- One (1) year of closely related experience may be substituted for each year of Education required.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Extensive knowledge of computer systems such as System Crew Assignment Tracking (SCAT) and Crew Assignments (CRAA) is required.
- Must have thorough command of MS Office suite, including Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Word.
- General knowledge of database applications, IP networks and operating systems is required.
