Main Functions
- Supervises assigned union employees performing various mechanical, body shop and non-revenue fleet repairs throughout the Central Maintenance Facility.
- Reviews all repair work, sets priorities of repairs, assigns work to mechanics and monitors performance to ensure that work is completed on time to meet service levels and safety standards.
- Responds to the changing priorities and various problems that may arise, providing technical support where required.
- Assigns overtime work as required and ensures that overtime is minimized through proper planning and control of the work.
- Assists in the recommendation of modifications to current buses (campaigns) as well as new equipment purchases.
- Monitors and reviews shop productivity to increase the shop output thereby increasing spare component availability in the field locations.
- Ensures that accurate records of repairs are properly completed.
- Ensures the proper supply of parts and expendables necessary for the maintenance of a bus and non-revenue fleet.
- Analyzes technical problems and provides timely, cost effective solutions in order to control and prevent major technical problems in the bus fleet.
- Enforces work rules, administers labor agreements and implements effective discipline and grievance procedures when required.
- Monitors the safety and cleanliness of the work areas and takes corrective action where necessary.
- Maintains effective communication with internal staff and the garage personnel.
- Trains and develops an effective group of maintenance personnel.
- High School diploma or equivalent, and six (6) years of applied experience in bus heavy maintenance/repairs, to include two (2) years of supervisory experience.

Certified formal technical training may be substituted for three (3) years of experience.
Other applied experience in heavy diesel vehicle maintenance may be substituted for maintenance experience. - Must be proficient with computer programs, including Excel, ASI and Kronos.

Salary : $57,700 - $73,100
