What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manager, Internal Communications position at NJ Transit?

MAIN FUNCTIONS:
- Assisting in the development of communications strategies and plans for specific NJ TRANSIT initiatives and/or announcements.
- Ensuring organizational initiatives and projects are successfully communicated to employees and stakeholders.
- Planning, editing and writing clear and compelling content for a variety of internal communications mediums, such as a staff intranet, monthly newsletters, TV screens or regular email bulletins. You may also be required to work on the layout of content for any of these channels.
- Ensuring internal communications messages are consistent across all mediums and for different departments of the organization.
- Ensuring internal communication messages are consistent with external communication messages.
- Responding to feedback from staff and adjust communications content accordingly.
- Creating and managing editorial calendar for the newsletter.
- Creating and managing departmental content calendar.
- Developing and managing timelines.
- Developing and disseminating employee surveys. Collecting and assessing the results.
- Assisting in the redevelopment of the agency’s intranet and playing a key role in its relaunch and ongoing content management.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor of Arts in English, Communications, Public Relations, or Marketing strongly preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years in Corporate, Internal or External Communications, Public Relations, or similar role.
- Two (2) years supervisory experience preferred
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Editing and proofreading skills.
- Well-organized and able to manage priorities and workload independently.
- Experienced in working in a large matrixed organization.
- Experienced in managing personal projects and interacting with senior management.
- Proficiency with all Microsoft applications.
- Knowledge of digital applications.
- Understands the role internal communications plays in the overall success of an organization.
- Experienced in creating timelines and managing execution of multiple projects at once.
- Experienced in developing strategic communication plans and programs.
