Job Overview
  • The Product Innovation Director is responsible for working between the NJEDA's ITS, product development, and Business Units. The Product Innovation Director represents IT capabilities in product discussions, providing expert guidance throughout the project lifecycle, and ensuring the delivery of effective technology solutions. This role serves as the primary point of contact for product stakeholders regarding IT-related inquiries and supports the end-to-end development process.
  • Contribute to centralizing business enablement, driving cross functional alignment, operational efficiency throughout the Authority and being responsible for a department, which includes managing a team.
  • Drive product strategy best practices

  • Job Qualifications
  • 3-5 years in IT program management, management consulting, project management, software development, or related roles
  • 2 years of NJEDA work experience
  • Strong understanding of product and software development lifecycles
  • Strong understanding of IT governance and management processes
  • Ability to balance work with multiple stakeholders while moving between projects

$111,792 - $139,740

Note: The NJEDA currently offers a hybrid work schedule for up to 2 days of telecommute work from home. To participate, you will be required to have high speed home internet access and a managers approval. This program does not supersede the "New Jersey First Act", which requires newly hired NJEDA employees to establish and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey.
Responsibilities:
Duties Daily Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the central point of contact for product stakeholders regarding IT-related inquiries and requests.
  • Advocate for IT capabilities in application development discussions, ensuring ITS is consistently involved.
  • Monitor and triage product changes during and post-launch, coordinating with business and product teams.
Projects:

Goals and Objectives:
  • Support the end-to-end development process.
  • Enable ITS to have a voice in product creation, development, and build processes.
  • Centralize IT inquiries and oversight for documentation processes.
  • Reduce ITS pain points around sporadic engagement and ad-hoc demands.
Collaboration and Cross-Divisional Interaction:
  • This role will collaborate with NJEDA's ITS, the Office of Innovation, product development teams, and Business Units by representing IT capabilities in product discussions, providing expert guidance, and ensuring the delivery of effective technology solutions. This role will serve as the main contact for product stakeholders and support the entire development process from start to finish as well identify other efficiencies throughout the Authority.
Reporting Structure:
  • This role will report directly to the Chief Operations Officer
  • Lead a diversified team, the size of the team will depend upon demand, in problem-solving and innovative thinking
  • This role will independently address product and operational inefficiencies with minimal supervision.
  • Must complete annual self-assessment as required.
  • Performs other duties and special projects, as assigned.

Qualifications:
Skills and Qualifications
Technical Skills:
  • Experience with using Dynamics CRM
Soft Skills:
  • Communication: Ability to clearly convey complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaboration: Effectively working with various departments, including ITS, product development, and Business Units.
  • Problem-Solving: Addressing and resolving technical issues and stakeholder concerns throughout the project lifecycle.

Experience:
  • 7-10 years in IT program management, management consulting, project management, software development, or related roles
  • 2 years of NJEDA work experience
  • 5 years management/supervisory experience
  • Advanced degree or industry specific certification may be substituted for 1 year of experience
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business/Management, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Relevant job experience will be considered equally.
Software/Tools Proficiency:
  • Project Management such as PMP, PRINCE2, Scrum; IT Service Management such as ITIL 4 Foundation, ITIL 4 Managing Professional; IT Governance and Compliance such as CISM, CGEIT (not required)
  • NJEDA utilizes Microsoft as the core application platform and proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.

  • Minimal physical demands and ability to work out normal business hours
  • Travel expected when necessary for business operations

Certificates and Licenses Required
  • Staff are required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essentials duties of the position.
