The Role
As we continue to grow, we are seeking a Functional QA Engineer to play a key role in shaping the future of our data-driven innovations. The Functional QA Engineer will play a critical role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality software solutions that meet our clients' functional requirements. This position focuses on manual testing, test case development, and ensuring the overall functionality of systems across multiple projects. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with business analysts, developers, and project managers to guarantee that all projects meet the highest standards of quality and functionality.

- Conduct exploratory testing to identify potential issues, gaps, or areas for improvement within the software, focusing on unexpected behaviors or edge cases.
- Collaborate with business analysts, developers, and stakeholders to clarify project requirements and understand the software’s intended behavior.
- Develop, document, and maintain test scripts that capture the core functionality and ensure consistent, repeatable test processes.
- Execute manual test cases across web, mobile, and desktop platforms, validating both expected and unexpected user behaviors.
- Identify, document, and track software defects, inconsistencies, and issues in a defect tracking system (e.g., JIRA, Bugzilla), providing detailed reproduction steps and insights from exploratory testing.
- Re-test resolved defects to confirm issues are effectively addressed, verifying that no new issues arise from fixes.
- Perform regression testing to ensure that new code changes do not negatively affect existing functionality, updating test cases as needed to reflect system changes.
- Work closely with developers and QA team members to ensure comprehensive test coverage, incorporating both exploratory testing findings and structured test case execution.
- Participate in Agile development processes, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives, contributing exploratory insights that guide testing efforts.
- Provide detailed reports on testing progress, test outcomes, and any exploratory testing observations, highlighting risks or areas requiring further attention.
- Continuously improve testing strategies by incorporating exploratory testing techniques alongside traditional test case execution, ensuring a well-rounded approach to QA.
- Proven work experience in software quality assurance, with 3 years of experience in functional testing preferred.
- Strong knowledge of QA methodologies, testing processes, and tools.
- Hands-on experience with manual testing, including black-box and gray-box testing.
- Ability to write clear, comprehensive, and detailed test cases.
- Basic proficiency with SQL for verifying data integrity.
- Ability to manage testing scope across multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Experience with defect tracking tools such as JIRA or Bugzilla.
- Familiarity with Agile development processes.
- Basic experience with test automation tools is a plus, though not required.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work well within a collaborative team environment.
