The R&D News department at Bloomberg is looking for senior software engineers to play a leading role in the design and implementation of some of the most critical applications on the Bloomberg Terminal. Our team works on problems such as real time search and query filtering, low latency indexing, text classification, collaborative filtering, machine translation and others. These applications are integral parts of a real time processing pipeline that processes over 1 million news stories a day from over 80,000 sources. In addition to challenges presented by a low latency and high throughput environment, we have to solve the business problem of presenting an overwhelming amount of content to a large user base, in a way that allows them to efficiently make decisions in the financial markets.

Qualifications :
- 3 years of industry experience building multithreaded applications in C or C
- Experience with building large-scale distributed systems a plus
- Experience with high-performance Unix / Linux Programming a plus
- Knowledge of SQL, PL / SQL or other relational DBMSs a plus
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science preferred.
