What are the responsibilities and job description for the YMCA After School Instructors position at NLYMCA?
Hiring for the remainder of the 2024 - 25 Schoolyear:
The position is available for afternoons.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Preside over all after school program functions at the Wells Location
- Create a positive environment conducive to child development.
- Interact with children, act as a role model.
- Maintain all YMCA standards and rules.
- Be aware of all safety hazards. Implement first aid, CPR or AED training if necessary. Be sure to record all injuries.
- Ensure no distraction or interference with the delivery of daily activities.
- Be aware of the location of children at all times.
- Create appropriate lesson plans (encourage positive learning) and enthusiastically facilitate activities. Incorporate YMCA core values in all lessons plans.
- Coordinate, assign, lead & supervise lesson plans / activities.
- Ensure safety and cleanliness of program area and equipment
- Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
- Provide excellent service to members, children and parents.
- Evaluate progress of program and staff
- Perform other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· After School staff must be at least 16 years old.
· At least one years child care experience, some preferably in administration - helpful.
· Staff must have current certification in CPR, First Aid, and AED or obtain in first 30 days of employment (provided by the YMCA)
· Must be a mature individual with the ability to operate independently.
· Must have excellent human relation skills and ability to maintain positive communication with program participants, volunteers and staff.
· Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
· Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
· Must have ability to perceive audio & visual alerts for emergency purposes.
· Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
· Must be able to access all areas of building or off-site locations including pool areas, closets, stairwells, locker rooms, wellness center, etc
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $12.50 - $17.00 per hour
