Position Overview
The EPG Technician responsibility will be to repair Generator and Industrial engines (i.e. Irrigation engines, grinders, etc.) and repair electrical power systems to the customer’s satisfaction in the shop and/or field. This is a position is for an experienced mechanic who is able to remove, install, repair, disassemble, assemble, and perform failure analyses of CAT and non-CAT equipment including engines and electrical systems.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES*:
- Provide customer support for on-site power generation facilities through technical evaluations of specific application, troubleshooting, and problem solving
- Responsible for Installing, servicing and repairing generators, UPS, switchgear, automatic transfer switch, and other related system products. This could include first time (start-up) installations; coordinating with other systems being installed such as multiple generator sets and paralleling switchgear to ensure all related equipment work together properly as a system.
- Conducts necessary machine performance and diagnostic tests, interprets results and makes an independent decision as to the extent of the power generation repair.
- Performs scheduled maintenance and repairs, mechanical and electrical troubleshooting of engines, generators, controls, switchgear, emissions controls, and auxiliary equipment.
- Performs mechanical troubleshooting and repairs on all generating set systems, including: fuel delivery, ignition, lube oil, cooling, exhaust systems, turbo charging as well as engine internal components.
- Conducts electrical troubleshooting and problem solving requires strong AC/DC power skills, ability to read and interpret schematics, troubleshoot and repair motors, relays, contacts, generator components, and controls.
- Performs work in the field, shop, or at customer locations which can include overtime and overnight assignments.
