About the Role
This position requires a skilled professional to oversee export/import operations at the branch office, focusing on efficiency and customer satisfaction. Collaborating with Sales and the Branch Manager, the successful candidate will address customer inquiries and drive business forward.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure accurate preparation and issuance of air or ocean bills of lading and supporting export documentation to guarantee exportable freight.
- Establish connections with trucking companies to arrange for the pickup of customers' freight.
- Upon receipt of freight in the warehouse, conduct thorough TSA safety checks and label it for export.
- Coordinate export shipment bookings with air and ocean carriers.
- Closely monitor consolidation processes.
- Implement TSA safety regulations as developed by the Head Office, adhering to established procedures.
- Collect import documentation from airlines.
- Verify immediate Transport documents for US Customs.
- Partner with external Customs Brokers to ensure timely import freight clearance.
- Negotiate with NNR Japan and other international agents.
- Deliver quotations to customers when sales staff are unavailable.
- Offer market research support to sales staff.
- Develop comprehensive proposals for sales staff, conducting telephone sales to potential clients.
- Assist sales staff with written communication, faxing, etc.
- Reconnect with inactive customers to determine shipping status.
- Notify import customers of arrival information.
- Collaborate on account collection efforts.
- Update airline rates within the sales department's records.
- Foster long-term relationships with customers through post-sale interactions, provide flight information, maintain and review Letters of Credit, and resolve any complaints.
- Maintain and update customer files.
- Carry out additional tasks as assigned by management.
