Job Overview
As a Fire Alarm and Security Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of individuals and properties by installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting fire alarm and security systems. Your responsibilities will involve working with cutting-edge technology to design, install, and maintain systems that protect against fire hazards and unauthorized access.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Installation and Maintenance
- Install and program fire alarm and security systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance to ensure systems are operating at optimal levels.
- Troubleshoot and repair any technical issues or malfunctions promptly.
- System Design
- Collaborate with clients and team members to design customized fire alarm and security solutions tailored to the specific needs of each location.
- Interpret blueprints and schematics to plan the placement and wiring of systems.
- Testing and Verification
- Conduct thorough testing of installed systems to ensure they meet safety and security standards.
- Verify that all components, including sensors, alarms, and communication systems, are functioning correctly.
- Compliance and Documentation
- Stay up to date with relevant industry codes, regulations, and standards.
- Document all installation, maintenance, and testing activities in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Customer Interaction
- Communicate with clients to understand their safety and security needs.
- Provide training to end-users on the proper use and maintenance of fire alarm and security systems.
- Emergency Response
- Respond promptly to emergency service calls and troubleshoot issues in real-time.
- Collaborate with emergency services personnel as needed.
Qualifications and Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in Fire Alarm and Security or a related field. NICET Certification is a plus.
- Knowledge of fire NFPA and NEC codes, security protocols, and industry standards.
- Proficient in reading blueprints and technical manuals.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
