No Handouts Track & Field Club, a premier competitive travel track and field team, is seeking an experienced and dedicated Throws Coach to join our coaching staff. This position focuses on developing athletes specializing in shot put, discus, and javelin. As a Throws Coach, you will be instrumental in guiding our throwers to achieve their highest potential through expert coaching, personalized training, and strategic preparation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Event Specialization: Design and deliver training programs tailored to shot put, discus, and javelin. Focus on developing advanced techniques, strength, and conditioning specific to each throwing event.
- Skill Development: Provide hands-on coaching and technical instruction to athletes. Analyze and refine throwing techniques to improve performance and consistency in shot put, discus, and javelin.
- Competition Preparation: Prepare athletes for competitive events by devising event-specific strategies and mental conditioning techniques. Ensure athletes are well-prepared and confident for both local and travel competitions.
- Individual Attention: Conduct personalized coaching sessions to address each athlete’s specific needs and goals. Create individualized training plans that enhance their strengths and address areas for improvement.
- Monitoring & Assessment: Track and evaluate athletes’ progress using performance metrics and regular assessments. Adjust training programs based on performance data, feedback, and competition results.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other coaches and staff to integrate throws training within the overall track and field program. Collaborate on athlete development, team strategies, and performance goals.
- Community Engagement: Foster positive relationships with athletes, parents, and the community. Represent the club positively at events and in communications, promoting the club’s values and achievements.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in coaching shot put, discus, and javelin at competitive levels, with a strong grasp of techniques, training methods, and event-specific strategies.
- Demonstrated success in developing throwers and achieving measurable improvements in performance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate athletes.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple athletes and training programs effectively.
- Knowledge of sports science principles related to strength and conditioning for throwers.
- Certification in coaching or related fields is preferred.
