What are the responsibilities and job description for the Supervisor -Adolescent Group Home (FT) position at Noank Community Support Services, Inc.?
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Supervisor, under the direct supervision of the Program Director, oversees the therapeutic milieu of the shelter and group home residents. The Supervisor, in conjunction with the Program Director and the Clinician, helps to maintain a safe and healthy environment, and shall see that the Residential Program operates therapeutically, effectively, and efficiently. This is a full-time, 40-hour per week, salaried position that is exempt from compensation regulations as specified in section 31-76i of the Connecticut General Statutes.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Under the supervision of the Program Director, and in consultation and collaboration with the Clinician attends to the therapeutic milieu.
2. Provides the Resident Advisors with supervision, direction, consultation, and support.
3. Provides a variety of services to residents, including transportation, assistance and instruction in hygiene, assistance in the development of daily living skills, and maintenance of other personal needs.
4. Assists in the teaching and development of life skills to residents.
5. Ensures adequate care for the clothing, shelter (cleanliness of bedroom), and other basic needs of assigned residents.
6. Fosters a stable and therapeutic environment by maintaining the Agency’s values and principles of trauma-informed, gender-responsive, and culturally sensitive model of treatment.
7. Promotes a positive, communicative environment for residents’ families, guardians, and representatives.
8. Maintains appropriate therapeutic boundaries with clients and staff per Agency policy.
9. Attends weekly staff meetings and other pertinent meetings as designated by the Program Director.
10. Participates as requested in meetings concerning the status of residents and their treatment program; provides information and incorporates feedback as appropriate.
11. Prepares and maintains records, files, and reports as required.
12. In collaboration with the Program Director, participates in and/or plans recreational activities both on and off house property as assigned by the treatment team; this also includes motivation of residents; hobby and skills instruction and support; and the nurturing of a positive, enthusiastic, and therapeutic play environment.
13. Ability to participate in needed resident care such as: medication administration, CPR, and/or physical intervention.
14. In collaboration with the Program Director, develops the staff schedule and ensures staff coverage for all shifts; may be required to personally fill open shifts when there is not adequate staff coverage.
15. Assists in orienting and training new Resident Advisors as assigned.
16. Completes performance evaluations for Resident Advisors.
17. Oversight of petty cash as directed by the Program Director.
18. Follows all Agency policies and procedures.
19. Attends and participates in Agency training programs as assigned.
20. Presents as a positive representative of the Agency when involved with the community.
21. Assists in all areas of the department and other as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor level Social Worker, or related human services degree with experience working with behaviorally challenging adolescent girls. An Associate’s Degree and 5 years of experience can be substituted for the Bachelor’s Degree. Familiar with Trauma Theory, Female Development, Female–responsive principles, and relational strength-based approaches to care. Experience in administrative management and staff supervision. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
The employee must present a current valid driver’s license and have available, use of a safe and roadworthy vehicle. Annually, the employee shall provide the Agency with proof of suitable automobile insurance. The Supervisor is required to be able to operate a personal computer with proficiency in the use of Microsoft 365, web-based platforms, and Adobe PDF. Must pass a national background check conducted by fingerprints, a state police background check, a CT DCF protective service background check, a motor vehicle check, and provide proof of physical and negative PPD results. If the applicant has resided in another state in the last 5 years background checks must be conducted and passed in those states as well.
REPORTS TO: The Supervisor is supervised by and accountable to the Program Director.
