Description
The Operations Manager develops and maintains efficient, productive, and cost-effective operations. This manager measures the plan to actual, and develops and implements corrective action, as necessary. The Operation Manager develops and implements information and administrative systems to support operations services and programs. They maintain all facilities and equipment. The Operations Manager develops relationships with local vendors and is responsible for training and developing staff to achieve maximum efficiency and effectiveness.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and direct export and import department team members to perform all assigned operations functions (ops processes, KPI’s, and budget).
- Ensure compliance with government regulations (TSA, U.S. Customs, etc.).
- Address low profit clients with General Manager and Sales stakeholders.
- Ensure the proper implementation of new business or new customers, with all documents (SOPs) in place prior to the start of the business.
- Ensure and lead the department managers and/or supervisors in achieving their goals (KPI’s, budget, auto-rating, auto-costing).
- Develop and implement measures, standards, and operational processes to ensure high quality services for customers. Perform regular evaluations of results accomplished. Ensure the accuracy of data and conduct accurate review and closeout of files.
- Implement continuous improvement plans and actions to ensure steady progress in Operations (documentation, customer relations, rating, quoting, booking, tracking, and invoicing activities).
- Maintain courteous, prompt, and efficient customer relations.
- Help select, train, and develop qualified personnel.
- Prepare timely management information and reports as specified and requested.
- Negotiate shipping rates and submit them to the general manager for approval when necessary to be competitive.
- Establish and maintain all necessary procedures to ensure a clean, organized, safe, and healthy environment for all personnel. Maintain all facilities and equipment in a good state of repair. Ensure compliance with Hazardous Materials regulations.
- Ensure all export vendors meet service standards and provide Noatum Logistics with the best possible price and service. Adhere to established credit policies.
- Ensure operations documentation is accurately processed, distributed, and released to steamship lines, airlines, freight forwarders, customers, and agents in a timely manner.
- Develop and maintain successful relationships with local vendors (e.g., steamship line representatives, airlines, freight forwarders, customs brokers, local pickup and delivery companies, regional trucking companies, line haul providers).
- Treat proprietary information with the utmost confidentiality and maintain the security of computer systems.
- As a joint responsibility with the general manager, develop and maintain an office atmosphere conducive to continual growth of employees.
Minimum requirements
- College degree in international transportation and logistics or related degree or 5 -7 years in logistics and international transportation and freight forwarding, or a combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge and skill in import/export documentation requirements and preparation.
- Knowledge of applicable state, federal, and international laws and regulations (Federal Maritime Commissions, Interstate Commerce Commission, Customs, environmental, import/export, maritime, human resources).
- Demonstrated leadership, supervisory, negotiation, and customer satisfaction skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of effective organization and project management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal communication, change management, and presentation skills (written and verbal).
- Demonstrated ability to effectively resolve customer complaints and problems and restore or maintain business.
- Competency in PC, spreadsheets, and database applications (including Microsoft Office Suite).
- CargoWise platform experience preferred.
