Provides receipt and screening of all incoming USPS, UPS, and FedEx mail. Tasked with security scanning, screening, and sorting of all incoming, interoffice inter-agency, e-certified, metered, registered, and foreign mail, which is then delivered to designated locations. The General Clerk II / Driver follows clearly detailed procedures and performs sequential, repetitious tasks. Ability to drive to local CDC campuses. All candidates must pass PIV Clearance and clean MVR.Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities : Screening all incoming and interoffice mailX-ray all incoming packages and boxes with the X-ray machine.Receiving incoming mail from the CDC Mail Screening FacilitySorting and date stamping all incoming USPS, FedEx and UPS mail.Operate government and / or company vehicles. Delivery and pickup interoffice mail per CDC agreement.Maintain route and vehicle fuel log sheets for daily deliveriesOperate handheld scanners at all delivery locations.Metering outgoing mailPresenting outgoing mail to USPSProvide special on campus hand carry of packages upon requestSeparates outgoing mail into : (1) United States Postal Service (USPS), or United Parcel Service (UPS) which needs metering; (2) internal or interoffice mail according to designated mailstops;(3) international mail; (4) Federal Express (FedEx).Re-address undeliverable mail bearing incomplete or incorrect addressesBasic computer skills for email and address / directory lookupMust meet established standards of quality and productivity with / without supervisionMust maintain a good attendance recordPerform other related tasks and duties as assigned by the Mailroom Project Manager and SupervisorCross train with Program Support Services Regional Office at the Sam Nunn Building / MLK Building.Education : High school diploma, GED or equivalent knowledge and experienceKey Competencies : Interpersonal : Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment.Works well with the public and provides exceptional customer service.Strong interpersonal skills and ability to maintain confidentiality.Written Communications : Strong written communication skills required to maintain quality documentation and effectively communicate with a broad range of individuals.Analytical : Good math aptitudeGood analytical skills needed to analyze various job tasksOral Communications : Strong verbal communication skills required to effectively communicate with a broad range of individuals.Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.Leadership : Not applicableOrganizational : Ability to organize work area, supply room and maintain data for required reports.Problem-SolvingAbility to meet contract office requirement standards and prescribed deadlines.Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.
