Nobles seeks an enthusiastic computer science teacher for a full-time, one-year position to begin in late August 2025. The candidate will be pivotal in promoting computer science skills and literacy among students and will be involved in teaching introductory computer science courses. No prior teaching experience is required to be considered for this position, but a demonstrated interest in working with young people is essential. Candidates should be adept at communicating effectively with parents and the school community.
Under the supervision of the computer science department chair, the teacher will also participate in broader school activities and could have responsibilities in the technology department. Additionally, Nobles looks for multifaceted educators eager to contribute significantly to the life of the school in at least one non-academic area (e.g., athletics, community service, admissions, or performing arts) outside of their teaching.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field is strongly preferred
- A robust foundation in computer science education
- Excellent technology skills and an ability to manage classroom technology effectively
- Personal qualities of resilience, approachability, and kindness
Responsibilities:
- Develop and present engaging computer science lessons
- Create teaching materials to enhance student learning and literacy in technology
- Participate in classroom observations with experienced teachers and possibly team-teaching to provide enriched learning experiences
- Attend all professional faculty meetings, including departmental meetings and other sessions called by the school leadership
- Communicate effectively with parents and collaborate with faculty across departments
- Contribute enthusiastically to school life outside the classroom in a dynamic day- and five-day boarding school environment
