Summary
This role is responsible for the maintenance and repair of Blowout Preventer (BOP) stacks, control and support systems, hydraulic and mechanical components, and component interface/support systems.
The ideal candidate will have a recognized Marine/Engineering qualification from a Maritime college or equivalent, with 4 years of related experience and education/training in hydraulics and fluid system maintenance and repair.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and repair subsea BOP stacks, control and support systems, hydraulic and mechanical components, and component interface/support systems.
- Monitor and direct troubleshooting and repairs as necessary for operations.
- Implement and uphold safety and environmental compliance requirements.
- Work closely with Section Leaders to ensure subsea systems meet operational requirements.
Essential Functions:
- Work with rig management and supervisors for planning operations and evolutions related to subsea systems and subsea system operations, maintenance, and repair.
- Organize, brief, and directly control assistance team for pulling the Blowout Preventer (BOP) stack.
- Maintain an adequate knowledge level of overall drilling operations to assemble and disassemble all inter-related equipment involved with subsea and surface support systems.
- Interface with all key rig personnel during drilling operations to support operations involving subsea and surface support equipment.
Maintenance & Repair:
- Install and maintain all components and parts of the subsea BOP stack and lower marine riser package, riser joints, telescopic joint, diverter, tensioners, and other associated equipment.
- Maintain and test all drilling or marine related subsea and surface support equipment such as running, retrieving, and testing tools, TV camera and any other equipment associated with the stack, surface well control safety system and/or marine tensing compensating system.
- Troubleshoot as necessary, all subsea and surface equipment and recommend corrective action to the Rig Manager on safest and most efficient means of solving occurred problems.
Health, Safety & Environmental:
- Implement and uphold Noble's safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure that all operations proceed in a safe manner. Correct and notify responsible parties of any unsafe acts and/or conditions which exist.
- Encourage and motivate personnel to observe safety and environmental policies and all intended and implied requirements of Noble's Management System.
Qualifications:
- Recognized Marine/Engineering qualification from Maritime college or equivalent.
- 4 years of related experience and education/training in hydraulics and fluid system maintenance and repair; superior knowledge of BOPs and control systems and associated procedures; of riser tensioners and CMC functions; and of all wellhead equipment and running tools.
- Hydraulic Mechanic certified required.
- Able to perform accurate calculations for riser runs and tensioners.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Superior troubleshooting, decision making, and problem resolution skills.
