What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrical Supervisor position at Noble Drilling Services Inc.?
The Electrical Supervisor will put personnel and rig safety first in the pursuance of all his/her activities. They will also ensure that all electrical systems and related equipment are maintained, serviced and tested in accordance with the applicable rules and regulations, the correct electrical standards and good industry practice.
The Electrical Supervisor shall ensure that deviations from the explosion proof integrity of installations and equipment within hazardous zones are identified and corrected accordingly.
The Electrical Supervisor controls the work of the electrical department and day shift and is responsible for the safety of all personnel working under his supervision.
The Electrical Supervisor will ensure that the relevant requirements of the Noble Management System are used as the term of reference for his work.
When controlling the work of others the Electrical Supervisor shall ensure the safety of all the personnel working under his management by enforcement of the companies’ safety policies and culture.

Responsibility
- Supervises inspections, testing, maintenance and repair of the high voltage plant in accordance with the preventive maintenance management system and high voltage safe working practices
- Informs the Technical Section Leader of all findings of conditions which violate the hazardous integrity of electrical installations or the operability of equipment and supervises and participates in the rectification of any problems
- Be well acquainted with the legislation in respect of the working environment and safety, and Noble safety and environmental policy; and ensure that this is applied in the daily work on board. Particular attention to be paid to the Work Permit system
- Supervises new installation and modification of existing installations in accordance with the applicable electrical standards
- Keeps the Technical Section Leader and the OIM informed of the operational status of all electrical and electronic systems onboard
- Keeps abreast of new rules and regulations pertaining to the area of responsibility, particularly high voltage and hazardous area rules and regulations.
- Assists the Technical Section Leader in keeping all electrical drawings and records up to date
- In co-operation with the Technical Section Leader, specifies spares required for stock within the area of electrical responsibility
- Assists in conducting section safety meetings, actively encourage the staff to bring forward their concerns and ideas
- Assists in conducting pre-job meetings prior to commencement of special activities.
- Perform verification of cybersecurity controls
- Plan and coordinate cybersecurity incident response exercises
- Plan and coordinate cybersecurity awareness sessions
- External and internal cybersecurity audits
- Responsible for the safe, secure, and efficient execution of duties in accordance with the management system, instructions and training within Noble.
Authority
Where responsibility is allocated, the matching authority is also granted, unless otherwise stated. Stop any operation when deemed unsafe to continue.
Documentation and record responsibilities
- Ensures that Test Records for the High Voltage Plant and all onboard electrical and electronic equipment is correctly recorded
- Work Permits and Safe Job Analysis
- Non-conformance (Deviation) Reports
- Update the IFS system and equipment breakdown records
- Shift and crew change hand over notes.
Qualification requirements
Experience:
- Minimum of 7 years of experience on offshore drilling units
- Training according to training matrix
- Valid STCW Security Awareness certificate
- Certified in supervising and conducting work on high voltage power plants
- Certified Industrial or Marine Electrician Additional Skills:
- Conversant with rules and regulations for electrical equipment
- Experienced with computerized maintenance management system (IFS)
- Good verbal and written English skills
