General Purpose
The Heavy Duty Truck Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance and repair of a fleet of heavy-duty trucks, with a special focus on tractor-trailers. The role is crucial for ensuring that the fleet remains in optimal working condition and meets all safety standards.
Essential Functions
Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting on heavy trucks and equipment to identify and address mechanical problems.
Carry out repairs and routine maintenance on diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical systems, and other vital components.
Conduct inspections of vehicles to ensure they comply with regulatory standards and company policies.
Utilize specialized tools and equipment, such as hydraulic jacks, air tools, and diagnostic software, to perform repairs.
Maintain accurate records of repairs, services, and maintenance schedules.
Collaborate with other mechanics and team members to share knowledge and solve complex issues.
Protective Clothing
Steel-toe boots : Essential for protecting feet from heavy objects or machinery.
Safety gloves : Required to prevent hand injuries.
Safety glasses : Protects eyes from debris and hazardous materials.
Earplugs : Necessary to safeguard hearing in noisy environments.
Fire-resistant clothing / overalls : Provides protection against fire-related hazards.
Welding mask and welding gloves : Required for welding tasks to protect against sparks and high temperatures.
Work Environment
