Job Summary
The Housekeeping Staff is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for hospice patients, staff, and visitors within a nursing facility. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring infection control, sanitation, and compliance with all state and federal regulations, including those set by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). This position requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform daily cleaning and sanitation of patient rooms, common areas, restrooms, and offices following facility policies and infection control procedures.
- Change linens, make beds, and ensure patient rooms are well-stocked with necessary supplies.
- Dispose of waste, including medical and biohazardous waste, in accordance with safety guidelines.
- Maintain floors by sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and disinfecting as needed.
- Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces to minimize the spread of infections.
- Assist in laundry services, including washing, drying, and folding linens and patient clothing as needed.
- Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or any signs of neglect or abuse to the appropriate personnel.
- Respond to emergency cleaning situations promptly.
Follow proper procedures when handling chemicals and cleaning supplies, ensuring compliance with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
Treat all residents with dignity, respect, and compassion, fostering a supportive and home-like environment.
