Position Summary

Kitchen team members are

responsible for assisting with food preparation, maintaining cleanliness in the

kitchen, and supporting the team to ensure smooth operations.

Service

and Maintenance

  • Restocks supplies and ingredients during shifts.
  • Assists with plating and assembling dishes when

needed.

  • Sets up and stocks workstation with necessary
  • supplies before service.

  • Maintains cleanliness and organization during
  • and after shifts.

  • Assist with chopping, peeling, portioning, and
  • other simple prep tasks as directed by kitchen leadership.

  • Prepares and portions ingredients for service.
  • Communicates effectively with other kitchen
  • staff to ensure a smooth flow of service.

  • Assists with training and mentoring less
  • experienced team members.

  • Responds to changing priorities during service.
  • Handles special requests or dietary
  • accommodations with professionalism.

  • Completes other duties assigned by management.
  • Sanitation,

    Hygiene, and Safety

  • Maintains sanitation to the Department of Health
  • standards; keeps work area clean and organized.

  • Maintains and strictly abides by state
  • sanitation / health regulations and restaurant requirements and procedures.

  • Maintains and uses equipment and tools only as intended,
  • properly and safely.

  • Inspects the cleanliness and organization of the
  • line and workstations; rectifies any deficiencies.

  • Inspects the cleanliness and working condition
  • of all tools, equipment and supplies, ensuring everything complies with

    standards.

  • Informs supervisor or manager on duty
  • immediately of any DOH or OSHA / workplace safety violations.

  • Maintains proper storage procedures as specified
  • by Department of Health requirements.

    Physical

    Demands and Work Environment

  • May be required to lift, carry, push, or pull
  • heavy objects up to 50 lbs.

  • Kneel, bend, or stoop, ascend or descend stairs;
  • be on feet for extended periods of time.

  • Working in an environment that may be exposed to
  • hazardous equipment and situations and conditions that produce cuts or minor

    burns.

  • Frequent use of hands for washing dishes,
  • handling utensils, and loading / unloading racks.

  • Performing repetitive actions like scrubbing,
  • rinsing, and stacking, which require stamina and attention to detail.

  • Ability to move safely and quickly around the
  • kitchen area to keep up with workflow, often in tight spaces and around others.

  • Exposed to hot and cold temperatures, such as
  • when working near ovens or retrieving food from freezers.

  • Sometimes wear protective and safety attire,
  • such as gloves.

    Experience / Education

  • Proven experience as a line chef, cook, or
  • similar role in a professional kitchen.

  • Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, kitchen
  • equipment, and best practices.

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a
  • fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent time management and multitasking
  • skills.

  • A team-oriented mindset with strong
  • communication skills.

  • Culinary school education is a plus but not
  • required.
