Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Construction Laborer to join our team. The ideal candidate will assist in various construction tasks, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety. The Laborer performs a variety of tasks under close supervision of higher-level employees. These tasks may include assisting with extra workload, covering absences and vacations, and supplementing crews to meet unusual changes in the production area or in the weather.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the preparation of construction sites, including cleaning and organizing materials.
- Load and unload construction materials and tools.
- Operate hand and power tools, including saws, drills, and grinders.
- Assist with the installation of various building components, such as framing, drywall, roofing, and flooring.
- Mix, pour, and spread concrete, asphalt, and other materials.
- Dig trenches, backfill holes, and compact earth to prepare for construction.
- Erect and dismantle temporary structures, such as scaffolding and barricades.
- Follow safety guidelines and regulations, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Cleans and lubricates equipment, maintains a manufacturing area free from debris and dirt, and readies or puts away tools as assigned.
- Assist skilled tradespeople, such as carpenters, electricians, and plumbers, as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Project Manager or Site Supervisor.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a construction laborer or in a similar role.
- Knowledge of basic construction techniques and principles.
- Ability to operate construction equipment and machinery.
- Strong physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs).
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and dexterity.
- Ability to work well in a team and follow instructions.
- Good communication skills.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in OSHA safety training.
- Experience with specific construction tasks, such as masonry, carpentry, or plumbing.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction plans.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Exposure to loud noises, dust, and other construction-related hazards.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
