Core Responsibilities
The Accountant is responsible for managing financial transactions, preparing accurate reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. This role supports budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to aid in business decision-making and operational efficiency.
Activities and duties
The following activities and duties are illustrative of the primary functions of this position and are not intended to be all-inclusive:
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate payments.
- Prepare financial statements, balance sheets, and monthly reconciliations.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning to support business growth.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations.
- Process payroll and manage employee benefit-related financial reporting.
- Analyze financial data and generate reports for management decision-making.
- Assist with tax preparation and coordinate with external auditors.
- Maintain accurate financial records and documentation.
Education / Training
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or engineering environment.
Knowledge, Skills and Ability
- U.S. Citizenship is required
- Proficiency in accounting software (Deltek Vision experience is a plus).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Knowledge of GAAP principles and financial reporting.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Self-starter with the ability to carry out responsibilities with minimum supervision
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- Work is performed in a standard office environment and involves the ability to sit for extended periods of time.
- Ability to communicate on telephone and handle all calls in a professional and personable manner.
- Vision must be good enough to read keyboards, computer screen, reference books, reports and other written documents
- Ability to drive own or rental vehicle
