NOCO seeks a passionate and driven Electrical Engineer focused on Power Electronics to help design new and innovative products. This position will work closely with engineering, industrial design, and testing teams to ensure the fastest path to market while maintaining our strict design, quality, and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Full life-cycle design from initial concept to production.
- Power Electronics design
- Writing design specifications and test reports.
- Product testing and validation.
- Coordinating with other engineering disciplines.
- Supporting manufacturing activities.
- Occasional travel to suppliers and customers is required.

Essential Knowledge and Experience
- BS Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years of experience
- Experience with design and analysis of AC/DC and DC/DC Switch-Mode Power Supplies.
- Broad knowledge of power supply topologies such as Buck, Boost, Flyback, Forward, Bridge, Resonant LLC, PFC, etc.
- Experience in design, specification and selection of magnetics.
- Understanding of power converter stability criteria and analysis.
- Experience with thermal considerations in power supply design.
- Proficient in schematic capture and guiding PCB layout with knowledge on how design and layout impact EMC.
- Design for EMC and compliance.
- Current knowledge of available switching devices (FET, GaN, SiC) and finding the right trade-off between requirements and costs.
- Design for manufacturing and test.
- Ability to troubleshoot and debug power electronics circuits.
- Competent with lab equipment such as DMM, oscilloscope, data acquisition, etc.
Desirable Knowledge and Experience
The successful candidate has experience or knowledge in some of the following areas.
- High power isolated switching supply design (500W or more)
- Battery Chargers
- Compliance regulations relative to battery chargers/power supply design.
