CICS/MQ Systems Engineer

Job Title: Mainframe Systems Engineer with expertise in CICS/MQ Systems Engineer with bankings experience

Location: REMOTE
Duration: 6 months contract only

Overview:
Seeking an experienced Mainframe Systems Engineer with expertise in CICS and/or MQ on z/OS. This role focuses on designing, installing, and supporting major subsystems across Parallel Sysplex environments.

Systems application mainframe engineer candidate must have Parallel Sysplex experience designing, installing, maintaining, and supporting the major application subsystems running on z/OS. Must possess minimum of 7 years previous experience as a systems mainframe engineer installing and supporting at least two of the three major application subsystems, CICS or MQ on z/OS.

Detailed Description:
This candidate will be fulfilling a systems application mainframe engineer position.

• Responsible for the overall management and administration of CICS for z/OS and MQ for z/OS subsystems across multiple Sysplexes and CECS.
• Prototypes the new features, functions, and strategies of new application subsystems technology.
• Effective workload balance tuning and performance knowledge
• DB2 for z/OS Experience desired
• CTG experience desired
• REXX experiences desired
• Vendor management experience
• Provides 24x7 on call support within a team rotation

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and support CICS and MQ subsystems on z/OS across multiple Sysplexes.
• Prototype and implement new features and technologies.
• Tune performance and balance workloads effectively.
• Maintain system security and support disaster recovery planning.
• Provide 24x7 on-call support (team rotation).
• Collaborate with application teams and vendors to resolve system issues.

Required Skills:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• 7 years of experience with z/OS systems engineering, including CICS and/or MQ.
• Familiarity with tools such as BMC Mainview, SMPE, ISPF, and IBM analyzers.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• Desired: Experience with DB2, CTG, REXX, and vendor management.
• Knowledge of banking systems is a plus.
