Bell Labs Consulting (BLC) serves the world’s leading Communication Service Providers and Enterprises, enabling them to capture the full potential of network technologies.

You will be part of an expert, multi-disciplinary team that uses technology expertise, bold technology theses, ‘future-back’ foresight and deep, techno-economic analyses to help C-Suite teams evaluate the potential of next generation technologies to drive bottom- and top-line growth, embark on new markets and strategies, and improve the safety, productivity, and efficiency of their industrial operations.

BLC works in conjunction with Nokia Bell Labs, the world-renowned research arm of Nokia, having invented many of the foundational technologies that underpin information and communications networks and all digital devices and systems. This research has produced nine Nobel Prizes, five Turing Awards and numerous other awards.

What you will learn and contribute to

We seek a Consultant with expertise in the application of data science, analytics, machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) to support strategic consulting engagements.

In this role, you will:

• Create models and develop algorithms across a diverse set of domains, such as end-to-end network design and automation, network investment planning, customer experience monetization, text analysis using natural language processing techniques, and anomaly detection using time series data
• Drive discussions with communication service providers and enterprise clients in the areas of data science, analytics, ML and AI. Work with customers and BLC team members to develop proposals involving application of these areas
• Productize tools developed within BLC
• Build technical capability to enable working with large data sets
• Contribute to BLC thought leadership through white papers, blogs, and presentations.

Your skills and experience

You have:

• An M.Sc./M.S. or a higher degree in Data Science, Data Analytics, Machine Learning, Computer Science, or Mathematics
• 5 or more years’ production experience with
  • Spark or Hadoop
  • Developing ML and AI models – such as logistic regression, Classification and Regression Trees (CART), Random Forest, and Gradient Boosting – to address business problems
  • Developing algorithms with ability to define and optimize processing speed and compute/memory resource consumption
  • AWS S3, EC2, SageMaker, Athena, AWS Glue Data Catalog, AWS Lambda functions
  • Language, libraries: Python, Pandas, Numpy, Scikit-Learn, Matplotlib, ggplot (Experience with GeoPandas a plus)
  • Building a web application
• Creative/Innovative mindset to visualize simulation outcomes and develop/ implement appropriate algorithms
• Ability to work in an international multi-disciplinary team environment.

It would be nice if you also have:

• Experience with JavaScript, Node.js, Flask
• Experience with Apache Kafka
• Experience with data visualization techniques and tools (such as Tableau)
• Experience in programming – Visual Basic, R, Python
• Knowledge of statistical tests, hypothesis testing and Bayesian inference concepts, relational and non-relational Database Management Systems and experience in writing SQL queries.
• Experience in any of the following areas: wireless and wireline network architectures and technologies; cloud; IT networks, software, and operations; network automation. Knowledge of the industrial enterprise market.
