Responsibilities

• Train new employees in the COP lab
• Manage day to day priorities and assign duties as needed
• Ensure the COP lab has safe, working tools and orders new tools when necessary
• Put work orders in Maximo for maintenance
• Agree work schedule with supervisor
• Manage holidays / PTO with overtime as necessary
• Must cut tire sections for measurement and analysis. Sections must be buffed and cleaned so the components can be viewed.
• Must fit and take-off tires from rims using appropriate equipment while wearing PPE
• Must be trained on all equipment in COP lab and be able to run each piece of equipment independently when needed. This includes shearography, plunger, bead unseat, bandsaw, grinder, RR, high speed and endurance machines as well as tire fitting equipment and balance / uniformity machine
• Use sophisticated technical test equipment requiring PC literacy and the ability to read charts and graphs
• Use accepted problem-solving techniques to investigate and assign probable cause of test failures, trends and / or performance shifts
• Use statistical methods to analyze test data for changes in product or performance levels and publishes trending data reports through proper channels
• Contact production / quality leadership and initiates hold activity for non-conforming tires
• Contact appropriate personnel for disposition and communicates disposition to production / quality leadership
• Record and maintain all testing and analysis data
• Edit all inputs to ensure accuracy / integrity before releasing data into quality management system
• Notify calibration team and the appropriate supervisor about equipment that is not calibrated correctly
• Monitor, evaluate, classify and report cured tire quality and abnormal conditions by operating test wheel(s), radiographic (x-ray) equipment, by performing both destructive and non-destructive testing operations in order to assure a dependable product which meets tire construction standards
• Consult with other technical departments, production leadership, and team members in an effort to generate ideas and methods for improving techniques, equipment and workmanship related to the evaluation and performance of the product
• Coordinate with other technical and production personnel concerning special projects and studies to improve customer satisfaction, quality and cost reductions
• Ensure that safety inspections are completed, and all safety guidelines and procedures are followed
• Train and coach newly assigned team members in the operation of equipment in accordance with work and safety instructions and production schedules
• Develop, design, and implement process improvements to enhance operational performance to production and quality stands
• Work with the team to meet workflow targets, quality control standards and safety requirements
• All other duties as assigned.
