What are the responsibilities and job description for the CAD Technician position at Nokomis Energy?
Our Vision | Nokomis Energy is a Midwest based solar developer helping communities, companies and utilities take advantage of the Energy Transition. We are hiring a full-time, CAD Technician to help develop 1-20MW solar and storage solutions across US distribution grids.
How You’re Helping the Transition | At Nokomis, we recognize that with increasing frequency, communities, businesses, and organizations are seeking to become active participants in transitioning our energy system to cleaner, cheaper and more local sources. Our CAD Technician reports to the Sr. Manager of Development Engineering and plays an integral role in supporting Project Developers through development by creating value engineered layouts. On any given day you will create designs using CAD, model energy simulations and estimate build costs based on your design layouts.
Why You’re a Good Fit | Our ideal candidates will be excited about drafting designs, collaborating with others and problem-solving. Previous experience in clean energy is preferred but not required. 1-3 years of experience with CAD and a strong motivation to continue skill development is required. Good communication, visualization and technical skills are the foundation for success in this role is required. This role will work on many aspects of Development Engineering, offering multiple paths for growth. CAD Technicians commonly go on to become Senior CAD Technicians or even Project Developers. Essential Job Functions |
- Development Engineering:
- Complete layouts using PVCase/AutoCAD
- Run energy simulations in PVSyst
- Compile price estimates for projects based on existing internal build cost tool
- Evaluate, troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise with CAD software, designs or workflow.
- Value engineer sites to optimize project margins
- Advise on project requirements such as value engineering options, interconnection strategies and equipment.
- Communicate milestones, timelines, revisions, or delays as necessary to applicable team members.
- Manage communication and relationships with external vendors and third party engineering firms
Compensation |
- Total Annual Compensation (Salary Bonus) of $70,000 - $90,000 based on experience
