POSITION SUMMARY: The Executive Director will provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for RISE - Recovery in Southeast (RISE). This role requires a dynamic leader with a deep understanding of serious mental health issues, community collaboration, program development, and nonprofit management.
Leadership and Strategy:
- Develop and implement strategic plans to advance the organization's mission of improving mental health services for Tribal citizens and the larger Ketchikan community.
- Collaborate with the Board of Directors to establish organizational goals and policies.
- Foster a culture of respect, equity, and cultural sensitivity within the organization.
Program Management:
- Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of mental health programs and services.
- Ensure programmatic excellence through rigorous evaluation and quality improvement initiatives.
- Continually evaluate opportunities for program and service expansion.
Financial Management:
- Oversee the organization's finances, including budget preparation, analysis, and reporting.
- Expand and develop revenue opportunities, in addition to fee for services, through grant writing, community partnerships, and corporate sponsors.
- Maximize opportunities to leverage resources of RISE and affiliated entities for financial growth.
Community Relations and Advocacy:
- Serve as the primary spokesperson for the organization, articulating its vision and mission to diverse audiences.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Tribal leaders, community partners, and stakeholders.
- Advocate for policies and programs that positively impact mental health in Tribal communities.
Staff Management:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of mental health professionals and administrative staff.
- Ensure adherence to organizational policies and promote professional growth opportunities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Public Health, Social Work, or related field; advanced degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in executive leadership roles, preferably in Tribal and/or social service organization
- Deep understanding of Alaska Native cultures, Tribal governance, and mental health issues affecting Native communities
- Proven track record in nonprofit management, including strategic planning, fundraising, and program development
- Strong financial acumen and experience managing complex budgets
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across diverse groups
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, cultural competence, and trauma-informed practices
