Job Summary
The E. O. Wilson Biophilia Center, located in Freeport, Florida, provides environmental education to Walton, Okaloosa, Bay, Holmes, and Washington County students with a concentration in STEM subjects. Each year, the Biophilia Center educates over 6,500 students and averages more than 110 students every school day. Students who visit the Biophilia Center learn about the natural environment through interpretive exhibits as well as an extensive trail system through our 55,000-acre nature preserve, Nokuse.
Marketing Specialist Focus: Experience successfully managing & building a medium-to-large social media presence through personal enthusiasm for connecting & engaging with a social audience should be evident.
Examples (not a complete list) of skills and tasks required in this position:
· Work within a team of people to achieve focused objectives that support the Biophilia mission.
· Manage organized campaigns of various types (social, onsite, donor development)
· Manage our Constant Contact email list, Donor Perfect interactions, and updating our websites through Wix & WordPress
· Organize & develop daily social media content to create buzz, relevance, and loyalty.
This position reports to Vice President of Development and Executive Director. This position will be critical to grow the nonprofit’s social channels and optimize them for storytelling, marketing, and fundraising.
The Marketing Specialists will be instrumental in fundraising events, creating and sending out marketing materials and email campaigns, and promoting the Biophilia Center and its various programs.
Requirements:
· Social Media marketing experience
· Applicants are required to pass a background check through The Walton County School District.
· College degree or certified training in a related field
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and inspire diverse audiences of all ages and backgrounds.
· Time management skills
Qualifications
· Excellent written, oral, and communication skills
· Proficient with Canva, Microsoft Office, Constant Contact, Wix, WordPress, and Donor Perfect
· Team Player – no task is too small or too big
· Proactive thinker and problem solver
· Self-motivated and resourceful
· Experience with outdoor education is a plus
· Photography/videography experience is a plus
· Experience with Donor Perfect is a plus
Responsibilities
· Learn the mission and various educational programs offered at the E.O. Wilson Biophilia Center
· Responsible for content planning, from ideation to creation, across social platforms and content types within those platforms (feed vs. story vs. reel)
· Conceptualize and execute creative, relevant content on a daily/ weekly basis to align with social media calendar, nonprofit goals and objectives
· Coordinated approach for improving engagement and reach, including testing of frequency, timing and content type optimization to keep improving social performance
· Plan ahead about upcoming social media needs surrounding events, activities, or “national days” of celebration
· Write and distribute press releases
· Photograph animals and animal handlers for optimal online exposure
· Assist in planning, marketing, and executing fundraising events with VP Development
· Manage email list and create marketing campaigns
· Updating website as needed

Pay: $45,000.00 - $47,000.00 per year
