Position Summary
The Director of Financial Accountability to oversee the financial management and compliance functions within the NOLA Public Schools’ portfolio. The Director will play a critical role in ensuring transparency, integrity, and efficiency in financial operations, while also using the Charter School Accountability Framework to ensure accurate reporting from authorized schools in Orleans Parish.
- Assist the Chief Financial Officer in developing and implementing financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and organizational goals;
- Oversee the preparation and management of quarterly and annual budgets from authorized schools, working closely with schools, district leadership, and other stakeholders to align budget priorities with strategic objectives;
- Monitor financial performance against budgetary projections along with other financial metrics and provide regular financial reports and analysis to district leadership on the performance of NOLA Public Schools charter management organizations;
- Coordinate and ensure compliance with audit requirements, responding to Charter School Accountability Framework exceptions and audit findings and implementing corrective actions as needed;
- Stay informed about changes in charter school legislation and best practices in educational finance, providing guidance and training to schools as necessary;
- Conduct periodic reviews and assessments of financial systems and processes to identify opportunities for improvement and efficiency;
- Serve as a key liaison with charter school leaders and senior leadership on updates to the authorizer portfolio of NOLA Public Schools;
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- CPA certification preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial management, accounting, or auditing, preferably within the education sector or nonprofit organizations.
Salaries are determined by educational background and/or relevant years of experience.

Performance Evaluation
The employee will be evaluated based on the above position using either two methods: via COMPASS or a NOLA-PS evaluating instrument. If the employee holds an Educational Leadership certification, he/she will be evaluated via COMPASS to ensure renewal of certification.
